2023 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin 1 Oz

History

The gold coin design stems from the distinctive image of the maple leaf that represents Canada. The maple leaf to Canadians symbolises pride, connection and community. The Royal Canadian Mint is responsible for the minting of the gold maple leaf. The reverse side of the coin depicts the Canadian maple leaf in its centre along with the word 'Canada' that arches over the image. Each side of the maple leaf, "9999", is inscribed to depict the purity of the gold coin. The inscription "Fine Gold 1 OZ ARGENT PUR" lies on the bottom of the maple leaf image.

The coin's background has a radial line and a micro-engraved mint mark of a small maple leaf with the number "22" that prevents counterfeiters from producing fakes. The coin's obverse side features Queen Elizabeth II with a "50 Dollars" legal tender denomination and its issue date.
